The rice processing plant of Hunan Jiwei Chongshan Ecological Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. in Jiwei Town, Huayuan County is a hive of activity, and workers are busy fulfilling orders.
After multiple processes such as screening, grain separation, and fine selection, golden grains have been transformed into crystal clear and plump rice.
“The equipment of the new rice production line is made of food grade materials, with no noise, no dust, and fully enclosed production environment, making the production process more environmentally friendly and efficient compared to traditional production methods. The complete set of rice milling equipment currently used in the factory has made the process of turning grains into vacuum packaged rice integrated and intelligent, greatly improving processing efficiency,” said Long Jianli, a technical instructor at the rice processing plant.
In order to meet the demand for rice processing and production in the whole town and develop the dominant rice industry, in 2023, with the assistance of China Minmetals Group and Hunan Agricultural University, Hunan Jiwei Chongshan Ecological Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. invested 1.1 million yuan to build a rice processing plant, and introduced rice processing equipment that integrates cleaning, hulling, milling, polishing, color selection, grading, packaging, etc.
At the same time, a batch of rice testing equipment were purchased to ensure the quality of rice. In October 2024, the rice processing plant was officially put into use, with a complete set of rice milling equipment capable of processing 20 tons of rice per day. Currently, it provides grain processing services for large-scale rice growers.
This year, Jiwei Town has planted 16,000 mu (about 1,066.67 hectares) of high-quality rice, with a dry grain yield of over 500 kilograms per mu (about 0.067 hectares). At present, 1.1 million kilograms of grains have been dried in the town, and the rice processing plant has also ushered in a busy season.
The rice processing plant solves the processing problem for farmers and provides job opportunities for local villagers.
“Jiwei rice is favored by local consumers and many consumers from other places. In recent years, our consumer groups have increased and the popularity of the brand has improved. We will continue efforts to cultivate the brand, ensure grain quality, and increase output value to help improve the quality and efficiency of the agricultural industry, and boost the income of the village collective and the people,” said Ma Zhengwen, director of the Industrial Office of Jiwei Town.
